• Notes

  According to Pallot's Marriage Index she was Jane Scott of Sherburn. This was probably Sherburn in Elmet not far from Aberford. Found living with son Peter in 1851 census which shows she was born about 1772 in Etal, Northumberland. On her death certificate her age was 82 which suggests 1771 as her year of birth. In the IGI her birth date is given as about 1778. (Medical):Informant: Ellen Atkinson present at death, High Street, Barnsley. Jane's daughter Elenor was known as Ellen but was married to Thomas Hunter. Also could be her daughter in law Elinor Firth, married to James Atkinson.
